Synod's Air Conditioning

Living in Queensland involves dealing with seasons of high temperatures and high levels of humidity. People who don't have air conditioning installed in their homes tend to spend more time in air conditioned cars, shopping centres and work places.

The Theology and Worship Committee is a bit like an air conditioning unit. We keep the air moving in conversation - helping people process continually rising hot air. Issues such as sexuality and leadership, styles of worship and approaches to mission in the community are all topical for this tropical state.

Check in here for ongoing engagement with every day issues for the church and wider community.

Becoming Disciples

Becoming Disciples is a discussion paper that was written to help the Uniting Church in Australia prepare for the Tenth Assembly in July 2003, containing seven proposals to help congregations in the ministry of evangelism and forming disciples of Jesus Christ. These proposals envisage a church that is open and hospitable, inviting people on a journey of faith discovery and growth. At the same time, the proposals assume high expectations of what it means to belong to and participate inthe life of a Congregation or Faith Community, and of the vital task of forming people in active discipleship.
